Quick reference for LED downlight/spotlight beam angles:
| Application | Ceiling Height | Recommended Beam | Reason |
|------------|---------------|-----------------|--------|
| General office | 2.4-3.0m | 90-120° | Wide, uniform distribution |
| Corridor/hallway | 2.4-3.0m | 60-90° | Linear coverage along path |
| Retail display (wall) | 2.7-4.0m | 25-40° | Accent on merchandise, avoid spill |
| Retail general | 3.0-5.0m | 60-90° | Ambient + some sparkle |
| Conference table | 2.4-3.0m | 60° | Focused on table, reduce screen glare |
| Warehouse aisle | 6-12m | 30-60° | Narrow for tall racks, wider for open floor |
| Outdoor facade | 5-20m | 10-25° | Grazing/wall washing — throw distance matters |
| Art gallery | 3.0-5.0m | 15-30° | Tight control, no spill on adjacent works |
Rule of thumb for beam diameter at target:
Beam Width = 2 × Distance × tan(Beam Angle/2)
Example: 36° beam at 3m = 2 × 3 × tan(18°) = 1.95m diameter on the floor.
For multiple fixtures: overlap beams by 30-50% at the work plane for uniform illumination.
